Want an easy and fun way to get politically active?? Join our Same Love, Same Rights® Street Team! 2011 is a another vital year for our community, in so many ways. There have been excellent strides forward recently in states such as Illinois and New York, but the issue of marriage equality is in constant debate across the nation. Sometimes, envisioning real change in our country, with regard to LGBT issues, seems overwhelming. But we can make it happen, if we all do our part. Imagine... if all 19 million of us within the LGBTQ minority in this country papered our towns with flyers, promoting Equality & Tolerance... if we all spoke with our neighbors about the realities of how discrimination affects us in the arenas of marriage equality, adoption rights, ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ hate crimes, etc... If we held house-parties just before the elections, educating one another about the candidates and pending legislation, invigorating all voters to get out and participate... If we all simply spread the word about just how important it is to demand MORE from our elected officials, to stand up on behalf of Equal Rights for all American citizens, right now/right now... As a minority, we have an incredible amount of leverage! Sign up to join our SLSR Street Team and let’s make 2011 our Year for to Move Forward! Your First Step is simple... Just visit our downloads section to retrieve banners, wallpapers, and more. Then display them proudly on your facebook page, personal website, IM or desktop – Help spread the word about the important vision of Same Love, Same Rights®! Step Two: Send a post to your friends and other contacts, to let them know about our vision or one of our upcoming LGBT Wedding Expos. Imagine the ripple-effect if Gay & Lesbian Wedding Expos attracted thousands of attendees, even in states where same-sex marriage is not legally recognized. Such a show of cohesiveness within our community will go far! Easy! Step Three: Register as a member to Same Love, Same Rights.® It’s free, and the greater our number... the greater our power. Once you’ve registered, you can choose your level of involvement: *Post anytime in our national forum, to let others know about important current events in your area or even fun ceremony planning tips or insights you have - personal experience is a vital part of legitimizing our community! *Download additional materials to help spread the word about LGBTQ causes that are important to you. Putting your heart into the issue will keep you inspired! *Be sure to add a photo of yourself and your fiancée or spouse to our online Commitment Photo Album – we’re documenting just how real the faces of the LGBTQ minority truly are, all across America!
